Hipsters are drawn to its market, funksters to its music scene. Camden has long been one of London's coolest quarters and despite the £12m market regeneration project, it handsomely retains its colour and character as the new rubs shoulders with the old.
Islington, Camden's grown-up brother, retains some edge but is more suits than piercings nowadays. Upper Street is the neighbourhood's main draw, with its multitude of dining options and treasured Almeida theatre. Gorgeous Camden passage is its hidden gem.
