At half a mile long, the Portobello Road market is the longest antique market in the world. Popularised by many Hollywood flicks including Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Notting Hill, you’ll find everything here including antiques, fashion, books, music and food. The market is at its busiest on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays but a number of stalls will be there all week barring Thursday afternoons. Columbia Road Flower Market
If you’re looking for a way to brighten up your Sunday, then look no further than the Colombia Road Flower Market. From 8am onwards you’ll be surrounded by some of the best and cheapest flowers and plants around. You’ll be spoilt for choice with flowers from every corner of the world from the friendliest of sellers, some being up to 5th generation in the markets. If you’re feeling a bit peckish head on down to the fabulous Borough Market. Located in central London near the Tower Bridge, this market provides the perfect refreshment stop during your busy day of sightseeing. From Monday to Saturday you will find over 100 stands providing everything from your normal market vegetables to gourmet street food dishes One things for sure, you definitely won’t be left wanting. Try a gourmet grilled cheese toastie from Kappacasein or a famous doughnut from the irresistible Bread Ahead. Your only problem will be deciding where to eat.
Dating back to the 14th century the Leadenhall market has developed into a bustling boutique retail market. The old Victoria market setting featuring brightly painted wrought iron beams and a glass ceiling with impressive arches has provided the backdrop for many a Hollywood films including the Harry Potter franchise. While boasting some of London’s greatest boutique retailers and restaurants, the market has also played host to events such as the Olympic marathon.
