We Love Borough Market!
Borough Market has re-opened following the tragedy on London Bridge last month. An already tightknit community has become even more united following recent events, but the ancient market, Borough High Street and its surrounding roads have always been a buzzing hub at the centre of London living.
Until 1750, the only bridge in London was actual London Bridge, and so Borough High Street was the only route between the south of England and the City, turning the quarter into a commercial epicentre and chief thoroughfare.
Nowadays, it is an unmissable heaven for foodies worldwide, brimming with tourists, locals, and lunch-hunting businessmen alike, and always worth putting in your itinerary when in our gorgeous capital.
Where to eat
Padella – the famous pasta restaurant, often with queues circling round the high street, we’d recommend going early to grab a table before the hoards of workers storm through the doors. Give the ‘cacio e pepe’ a go – simple and classic combination of pasta with cheese and pepper.

And of course, the legendary Borough Market itself! From here you can eat your way around the world, from Nigeria to Madrid, Provence to Hong Kong and Bavaria to the Caribbean.
A particular favourite of the Ivy Lettings’ office is the Bread Ahead Bakery, serving freshly baked goods and the most delicious, pillowy donuts you have ever tried.

Where to drink
Monmouth – famous for coffee and rightly so. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, but with limited seating inside we’d recommend getting a flat white to-go and perusing the shops and stalls nearby.
Rabot 1745 – unusual eatery serving cuisine with a cocoa theme. The choco-lattes are worth a visit, and if you are a true chocoholic braving the eggs Florentine with a chocolate twist is a must.
George Inn – an authentic 17th century pub, owned by the National Trust, it is claimed to possibly be London’s oldest pub! With oak beams, a large courtyard area, wide selection of beer and a good burger to boot.
Where to shop
Borough Kitchen – fabulous gadgets and kitchenware you never realised you needed including but not limited to: a cold brew coffee set, an oil mist sprayer, titanium herb strippers and a £500.00 champagne bowl.
Chez Michele - a stylist florist specialising in weddings and corporate events, or just a beautiful bouquet to brighten up your London vacation rental.
Bedales Wines -- a bijou enoteca-style bar, with a few tables, charcuterie, cheeses and all important wine tasting. You can buy by the glass, or by the bottle, but their selection if wines is constantly changing! Stop by on the weekend for brunch, or a relaxed 2 course dinner on Monday-Thursday.
Where to stay
A vacation rental just over a 10-minute walk to the market. With 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, this London apartment is complete with a balcony offering beautiful panoramic views over the London skyline.
A Bermondsey short let apartment just a 15-minute walk to the market, perfect for two with an open-plan kitchen/dining area, and private terrace.
This vacation apartment is not as close to Borough as our other rentals, however if you do enjoy a leisurely stroll, take the scenic route along the river to the market, taking in the sights such as Big Ben, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Tate and St Paul’s in one go – treat yourself with a donut once you arrive!
A stylish 1-bedroom apartment found 15 minutes away from the market, with exposed brickwork walls, a small private terrace, and within walking distance to the iconic Tower of London – what more could you ask for?
