Top Tips For Your London Family Holiday

Planning a family vacation is without a doubt a big task (but an exciting one!). Having to take into consideration which activities to fit in your schedule that everyone will enjoy, what to pack for each of you, where you want to stay, etc. etc. can soon leave you feeling frazzled and overwhelmed.

Well never fear, Ivy Lettings is here! Here are our top tips on how to prepare for and spend your family holiday in our wonderful British capital.

When to visit? 

We recommend visiting in the spring time, when London’s many beautiful parks are in bloom and squirrels are out to play, or Summer when the days are long and sun rays are shining across the city. 

Of course, you could also visit during the colder months to get a full dose of the British experience (umbrellas, coats, and grey skies). London is fabulous all year round but in our opinion, nothing beats Spring/Summer time.

What to pack? 

You want to be sure that the time you have here is well spent, exploring the city and enjoying yourself, without any worry of having to run around looking to buy things you’ve forgotten. Read our tips on what to pack for your London vacation rental here.

What to do while you're here? 

There’s an abundance of activities to do during your time in the capital. You’re bound to find a few to do together as a family. Here are just a few options-

• Explore London’s wonderful markets
• See the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London
• Watch the changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace
• Have a picnic in one of London’s amazing parks (Hyde Park on a summer’s day is incredible)
• Catch a theatre show on the West End

Where to stay? 

We highly recommend staying within Zones 1-2, so you can keep costs of travelling around the capital cheaper for sightseeing.

Wonderful family area options to consider are: Chelsea, Paddingtonm Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Kensington, Notting Hill, Fulham, Battersea, and London Bridge. We recommend reading our Area Guide for information on London’s areas.
