Set back from Clareville Grove behind its own courtyard, this one-bedroom South Kensington apartment occupies a former artist's studio, with a lofty main room opening onto a small private garden. It is on the ground floor, arranged on a single level, and sleeps two.
The front door opens into a compact galley kitchen with a ceramic hob, microwave, under-counter fridge and combined washer-dryer. Beyond the bedroom and shower room, the home opens into its main space: a generous, high-ceilinged open-plan sitting and dining room with herringbone parquet, chandeliers, a decorative fireplace and framed paintings hung throughout. Glazed doors from this room lead onto the garden, where a small lawn and paved terrace are set with a bistro table and chairs.
The bedroom has a king-sized bed (5 ft / 150 cm wide), a built-in wardrobe and a window looking onto the garden. Across the hallway is the shower room, with a walk-in shower, basin and WC. Entry is through a gated, paved courtyard from the street, with no steps up to the front door.
Away from the road and with the garden on hand, the apartment offers a private base for two in the middle of South Kensington.
The flat was in a great location, convenient to very useful Tube lines, close to restaurants and shops and within walking distance of other neighborhoods we very much enjoyed exploring. It is a charming space, much enhanced by the artwork and the spaciousness of the living/dining room. The courtyard was another plus, since the weather was so good. The Ivy Lettings staff was responsive and pleasant in all of our dealings with them.
