June signals the start of summer – and although the weather remains...unpredictable, generally speaking fairer weather means outdoor pursuits are finally on the agenda – think picnics in the park, boating on lakes and settling down in an atmospheric beer garden on a warm afternoon… we can’t think of anything better- what a fine month to visit the capital! And there are events aplenty to keep tourists and Londoners entertained this month.

Bespoke London: St James & Savile Row Walking Tour

Learn all about the heritage of tailoring and craft in this world famous quarter of London. This walking tour organised by the Jewish Museum as part of their exhibition “Moses, Mods and Mr Fish”.

This interactive fountain is the work of Danish artist Jeppe Hein whose work often combines sculpture with architecture and technology – and requires viewer’s direct participation.

Walls of water rise and fall randomly to create constantly changing “rooms” challenging visitors to keep their wits about them, unless the want to get drenched.

Royal Academy Summer Exhibition

The Summer Exhibition is the biggest regular contemporary art exhibition in the world! And a must see for all art enthusiasts.

This season the RA is opening late on Friday and Saturdays during the run of the summer exhibition – visit the show, sample cocktails and soak up the ambience in the stunning courtyard.

Trooping the Colour: The Queen’s Birthday Parade

The Trooping of Colour is in celebration of the Queen’s Birthday (which is on April 21st). This event sees over 1,400 officers and men on parade with two hundred horses, four hundred musicians – a unique proceeding to witness, and one not to be missed if you’re in town.

Tate Modern

Art lovers rejoice! The Tate Modern has a whole new building – providing 60% more exhibition space – so there will be no end of contemporary art to soak up.

Open Garden Squares Weekend

Where? All over the city

Over this magical weekend you can discover London’s secret gardens - more than 200 gardens will unlock their gates to take part in this annual event.

138 of the gardens taking part this year are normally closed to the public. A range of tours and associated events will be announced closer to the time.


Where? All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club

Wimbledon is one of the most famous, and oldest, tennis tournaments in the world, and the UK goes tennis mad in the summer.

Even those who aren’t tennis fans get swept up in the excitement – in adjunction to the game, an appreciation of strawberry’s & cream, and Pimm’s is a must. With roughly 230,000 glasses of Pimm’s being drunk throughout the championships.

If you can’t get tickets to the actual match plenty of big screens pop up all over the city – so settle down, watch the tennis and soak up the atmosphere!
